Rane Serato Scratch Live
Site Review: Connecting upto 2 vinyl or CD turntables to either a Mac or PC computer through it's SL1 interface, Serato Scratch Live is a big contender for THE digital DJ solution. Vinyl junkies can take their whole collection with them to a gig, play off vinyl using the control signal records, yet not risk damaging their precious originals - tucked away safely at home. The control signal CD's work equally as well from a CDJ deck. As the name would suggest, scratching your digital files is just the same as real, and with support for a wide-range of digital file formats, an iTunes library import function and with no pre-processing of MP3 files required - Serato Scratch Live is certainly not an also-ran in the DJ software market.
The package includes a hardware interface, USB cable, 4 stereo RCA cables, 2 signal-coded vinyl & 2 signal-coded CD's and a software install disc with the obligatory manual.

The new updates are all spot on, auto loop which automatically loops from 2,4,6,8 and 16 beats from your own start point is very useful and extremely accurate. I run Serato Scratch on my Mac Book Pro (2.33ghz Intel Duo Core,160gb hard drive and 2gb ram). Highly recommend using a Mac-based unit as it seems to run smoother - as well as it looking cool lol. I'm no computer geek and I get on with Serato just fine, never had any probs with it even when using it in clubs. It's a very sturdy piece of kit that's very easy to use and would recommend to anyone thinking of buying a digital DJ software programme.
