I just started using this mixer in the new nghtclub here in town. I really like the 4 new effects on the side and the screen where the effects are showend; but the small problem for me is the EQ that doesnt kill the sound when turned completly to the left.

Excellent fair comparison, and balanced review on the DJM-800 DJ Alexander - thanks. If you've got any further thoughts on any other equipment you own, such as CD Decks or Turntables, please feel free to browse to the right product page and leave your thoughts!

Cheers,

I've owned the Pioneer DJM-800 for three years now and I have to say that it is definitely a high end piece of equipment. Sound quality and overall build quality is very high however... The upfaders... are not... They cannot survive years of use and two of my four channel up faders are worn to the bone so to speak. I have also stripped the rubber off of several of the EQ knobs. Again... This is a quality mixer but is not the kind that you can rely on to last forever like a Vastex or other high end battle mixers. If you buy this mixer, expect to have to have it repaired in years to come.

There are some people that wouldn't be allowed to write!

This guy before compare the DJM 800 with the Korg toy wannabe mixer?! Jesus!! And Xone?! Play with a Xone and tell me! The knobs and the feeling of it aren't great big time!

DJM800 has a great FX processor and gives you TOTAL CONTROL of the FX that is playing. I dunno if this guy considers CONTROL enabling diferent FX in multiple tracks, if so he's as lame as the Korg mixer!!

DJM800 is the top in these days! It is not for the hands who wants it, it's for the hands who can have it!

Pioneer mixers have been around for a while, and they used to be top of the game. I must admit, I was pretty awestruck with the DJM-800, but after using it for many months and having the option to play with other mixers, I've come to completely dislike the Pioneer sound quality as well as the effects.

The mixer only sounds "big" if you push the master into the orange LED section and even then, towards the top. The DJM-800 layout is nice and open, good for dark dj booths. The effects leave something to be desired, mainly CONTROL.

The biggest problem with the Pioneer mixers is the effects section. While there are quite a few effects, they can only affect one channel at a time (or the master). Not only that, but the effects, lacking any sort of customization, all sound like presets. You can ALWAYS tell when someone is on a Pioneer because you can hear that auto filter do its typical sweep and the robot sounds just like the robot.

The faders are okay, but I like quicker movements and better crossfaders. My recommendations against the Pioneer DJM-800 are the Korg Zero4 and Allen and Heath Xone:92. Much better mixers for the price with pristine sound quality.

The faders and the effects are great on the DJM-800. The only thing I don't like on them is the cue feature. Other than that a solid mixer.
