Allen and Heath Xone 42 DJ Mixer

Site Review: The new kid on the block in the Allen and Heath range, this is their attempt at a mid-level mixer for perhaps those with the lower budget, or not the room for some of the larger mixers. Designed with the same high standards as the rest of the Xone range, it introduces a new feature as well with the X-FX. This allows channel signals to be routed out to external FX units and then back to the mixer to be used in conjunction with the legendary A&H VCF filter. Suitable for professional clubs and DJ's as well as the bedroom setups of tomorrow's stars.

Hello there people hope your all well, I've never done a review on a mixer before so I'll try my best. I bought the Allen & Heath Xone:42 a couple of months ago now and I must admit I'm impressed, I purchased it by taking the risk of not being able to find any proper reviews anywhere on google or anything but the gamble paid off, I read all the info about the mixer before i bought it though so I knew what I was expecting.

The mixer is a beast and I know for my studio it will last me years, The filter is incredible, I'm a mixer and chopper and not really one for using delays, echo etc so not having the effects like the Pioneer's doesn't bother me as I can make it up in other ways, also with this mixer you've only got the 3 eq's unlike the 4 eq's on some other Allen & Heath mixers, I know a lot of my friends have Pioneer DJM 600's 800's etc but I wanted something different and I didn't want to spend too much money as I've also just added another Pioneer CDJ 1000 to my setup, but for £700 you can't go wrong' your getting a good solid unit.

I'm going to be putting a proper video demonstration up so that will give you a good insight in to the mixer, I've always had pretty average mixers in the past so this is ace for doing demo cd's. I also link my laptop into the line in on one of the channels for making tracks and can say I do seem to have improved in getting much more clean sounds coming through the mixer, but that's probably something to do with Allen & Heath specializing in mixers so the quality comes through.

I've not linked any effects untis or anything to the Xone 42 yet but I bet you can do some damage with efx or kaos pad or something;-) If you've got any question's that I've not answered in this review feel free to contact me, burg@djburg.co.uk.
